This blog is for those interested in the Opal, SD community and the 100 year celebration of the establishment of Opal, SD.
Plan to attend the Opal 100th Year Celebration
Opal, SD became a town in 1909, and the community will celebrate its 100th year celebration on August 29, 2009 at the Opal Community Hall.
Everyone is welcome to attend! The celebration will begin with a parade at 2:00, a free supper at 5:30, and a dance by the Twin River Band from 7:30-11:30.
We are asking that anyone connected to the Opal area enter the parade. We are hoping that each family that considers Opal its home will be a part of the special celebration.
